Aspley Guise-based drama group The Chameleons will be presenting their latest production on Thursday 30th April, Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd May 2026.
Set in René Artois’ chaotic little café in occupied France, this stage adaptation of the classic BBC sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo brings all the familiar characters, outrageous accents and larger-than-life plotting to the heart of Apsley Guise. René is just about managing his café, his formidable wife Edith and his clandestine liaisons with waitresses Yvette and Mimi, while secretly hiding two stranded British airmen and a priceless stolen painting, “The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies,” in his cellar. With the Resistance whispering in the back room, the Gestapo scheming in the shadows and German officers dropping in for dinner, René must juggle secret messages, disguises and mistaken identities as the situation becomes ever more ridiculous
Tickets are available at www.ticketsource.co.uk/chameleons and cost £12 for adults and £10 for concessions (over 60s and under 16s).
The Chameleons Drama Group, an informal and enthusiastic local company who “tread the boards” for the sheer love of it, bring their trademark energy and spirit to this fast-paced comedy, promising an evening packed with innuendo, visual gags and much-loved catchphrases, all just a short step from your doorstep in Apsley Guise. Whether you know the TV series by heart or are discovering it for the first time, you will be transported to Café René for a riotous night of escapist wartime fun.
Whether you fancy being on the stage or behind the scenes, new members are always welcome. If you are interested in being involved, just pop along to one of their meetings, which take place most Tuesdays at 8pm at Aspley Guise Village Hall, or come and have a chat after one of their performances.
